Fra Angelico: Dominican Monk and Early Renaissance Painter Details
Fra Angelico was a fifteenth century, early Renaissance Italian painter. A Dominican monk of the order of San Marco, he painted exclusively religious subjects. Fra Angelico painted traditional Christian themes that possessed original meaning. The name Fra Angelico means The Angelic Brother. The Florentine painter was among the first to adapt perspective techniques originated by Leon Battista Alberti. His great talent first became evident in the miniatures he rendered in various religious books.
